Jack Savoretti- We Will Always Be The Way We Were

The Making Of You; Can Hurt Sometimes; We Will Always Be The Way We Were; Tick Tock; Only Gonna Cry For You; Time Will Tell; Do It For Love; Anything abut A Fool; Tempting Fate; I Hear You Calling; Step By Step; The One; If I Get The Chance

Releasing his ninth studio album, Jack Savoretti captures the energy and soul of his debut released twenty years ago. Recorded live over eight days in London at Damon Albarn’s 13 Studio, the rawness of his live concerts has been successfully captured.

The Bruce Springsteen influences are still present, notably on the album title track and I Hear You Calling, with his throaty vocals being reminiscent of Rod Stewart, Joe Cocker and Paul Rodgers from Free.

The collaborations are as interesting as this fine body of songs where KT Tunstall duets on the blues-infused song Tempting Fate. Elsewhere, Miles Kane turns up on Do If For Love, on a track that does just what it says on the tin – two artists doing what they love to do.

There comes a contrasting moment of Only Gonna Cry For You, this time a duet with folk singer Steph Fraser.

There is a feeling throughout the album that Savoretti is comfortable with his place in life, now middle-aged, though he still has the hunger he had when his career first began, as can be heard on the album's title track.

Closing with If I Get The Chance, Savoretti has released an album that firmly puts him back in the spotlight. When making this album, he felt that no one else was creating music appealing to his generation; with We Will Always Be The Way We Were, he has more than succeeded in his quest.
