Samuel Anderson is to star opposite Gaynor Faye in Hot Flash, a feature film which delves into the challenges of menopause.

Hot Flash tells the story of Geri, an accidental entrepreneur who triumphs despite brutal menopause symptoms, imposter syndrome, and the challenges of being a forty-plus single mum. Anderson will play opposite her as Steve.

Best known for appearing in Amandaland and Shetland; Samuel's also had roles in Gavin & Stacey, Doctor Who, DCI Banks, Trollied, and the Netflix science fiction series Another Life.

He’s now excited to be part of a feature film: "I love comedy, and particularly comedy with depth and a bigger message. Jan’s writing is humorous, touching, and centred around a strong female character I can't wait to play opposite."

Hot Flash’s writer and producer is Jan Birley, who lives on the East Coast of Yorkshire. She said:

“We’re so excited to get Samuel on board - we all fell in love with his understated yet utterly irresistible portrayal of Mal in Amandaland, so getting him on board's an absolute dream come true for us. And with his huge fanbase, we’ll be able to help even more women feel visible, valued and less alone.”

Hot Flash is being shot exclusively in Yorkshire in February.
