Battle Of The Brass Bands At York Theatre Royal

This October get ready for a night of thunderous brass, and irresistible rhythm as New York Brass Band and Birmingham’s Heavy Beat Brass Band take centre stage in a spectacular brass battle at York Theatre Royal. Expect funk, soul, jazz and the best brass musicians that Birmingham and York have to offer.

This isn’t just any brass battle though; it’s a family affair. Leading New York Brass Band is patriarch James, joined by his eldest son Joe and daughter Grace, while youngest son Charlie and his wife Elita strike back from the frontline of Heavy Beat Brass Band. Expect playful rivalry, powerhouse solos, and plenty of good-natured mischief as the two bands face off in the friendliest of musical duels.

As the bands trade tunes and tear up the stage, audiences can expect a journey from New Orleans streets to Yorkshire beats - culminating in a joint, roof-raising finale that unites both bands for one unforgettable all-out brass explosion.
