Eighty Voices To Bring John Rutter’s Music To Marsden

Coro Amici will bring 80 voices and the music of John Rutter to St Bartholomew’s Church, Marsden, for a special concert in the Colne Valley.

On Saturday 21 November 2026 at 7pm, the 80-strong mixed choir, drawn from across West and South Yorkshire, will perform at St Bartholomew’s — affectionately known as the Cathedral of the Colne Valley.

The concert’s centrepiece is Rutter’s exhilarating Feel the Spirit, a vibrant work inspired by the African-American spiritual tradition. The programme will also include For the Beauty of the Earth, The Lord Bless You and Keep You, A Clare Benediction and more.

Although Coro Amici is a new name in the Colne Valley, its singers bring considerable experience, with many also performing in other choirs across the region.

The choir is led by its inspirational Musical Director, Jane Hobson. The concert will feature mezzo-soprano soloist Charly Browne, a recent graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the National Opera Studio Academy.

This will be Coro Amici’s first performance at St Bartholomew’s, whose beautiful setting and outstanding acoustics provide a fitting venue for Rutter’s warm and expressive music.
