The Summer Singers Holiday Club will take place on Tuesday 25 August from 9.30am to 3.30pm at Lindley Methodist Church. The event is open to children aged seven and over and costs £25 per child. Organised by Huddersfield Choral Youth Choirs, the one-day club promises a lively mix of songs, games and music-making in a friendly, supportive setting.

The day has been designed to help children grow in confidence, make new friends and enjoy singing as part of a group. Young singers will spend the day working with experienced leaders on a range of upbeat songs and musical activities, with plenty of time for breaks and fun.

The Huddersfield Choral Youth Choirs were started in 1986, bringing young singers together and gaining a reputation for musical excellence.

Under the skilled guidance and encouragement of musical director Colleen Brown, the Youth Choirs’ musical repertoire is eclectic and the standard of singing and music-making continues to impress and delight audiences. The choirs regularly perform in the local area and beyond.

The choir is always looking for more members, says Brown, “This is a wonderful way for young singers to get a taste of what being part of our choir is all about. We hope they’ll enjoy the day so much that they feel inspired to come back and join us regularly, building their confidence, making lasting friendships and developing their love of singing.”

The choirs rehearse on Wednesday evenings in term-time at Lindley Methodist Church. The choirs rehearse in three sections (Young Voices aged 7-12, Vocalise and Youth Choir aged 12-21), performing both separately and together as well as with Huddersfield Choral Society.
