Rock Heavyweights To Play Piece Hall In Halifax

Global titans Opeth will top the bill at The Piece Hall in Halifax on Saturday 1st August, joined by local heroes Paradise Lost — returning to their hometown for a rare homecoming show — and Katatonia, back in Yorkshire for the first time in over nine years.

It marks the first time these three influential figures of progressive and gothic metal have shared a stage. The event is staged by Northern Music Co, a promoter deeply rooted in the North and based in Shipley.

Choosing The Piece Hall over a traditional major venue like Wembley says much about the region's musical identity — and the gamble has already paid off, with fans travelling from across the globe to be part of the night. Little wonder: the venue's historic, dramatically vaulted setting looks tailor-made to complement the bands' atmospheric sound, and promises to sharpen an already formidable on-stage chemistry.

For Opeth, it's a first Yorkshire appearance in over six years, with a setlist curated exclusively for the occasion — the finishing touch on what promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime night on the doorstep of West Yorkshire.

Ahead of the show, Omerch, The Grayston Unity and Northern Music Co will host an official pre-show merch pop-up at The Grayston Unity, a ten-minute walk from The Piece Hall. Running from noon until 6pm, it will offer fans rare and classic vinyl, exclusive band merchandise and collectible memorabilia from the night's line-up and beyond.

Once the last note has faded, the party continues: Paradise Lost will host the official afterparty at The Grayston Unity from 10:30pm to 12:15am, giving fans the chance to compare notes on a landmark evening — and each other's vinyl hauls.
