Coro Amici
A 70-strong Yorkshire choir will bring a rare and vibrant fusion of classical music, Latin jazz and klezmer to Wentworth Woodhouse this month.
Coro Amici will perform
Missa Latina by contemporary German composer Bobbi Fischer on Sunday 10 May, in the historic Marble Saloon.
Blending Argentinian tango, Caribbean rhythms and Latin jazz, Missa Latina is rarely performed in the UK, with only one previous performance in the South of England.
The concert will also feature Kibitz, a five-piece klezmer band from Leeds, performing energetic and soulful music inspired by Eastern European traditions.
We wanted to create something that really surprises people – this is not a traditional choral concert. The mix of Latin jazz and klezmer alongside classical singing makes it a genuinely unique evening. I’m also delighted that our concert is a first for Wentworth Woodhouse, hosting a large adult mixed choir.Musical Director Jane Hobson
Coro Amici recently returned from a successful tour to Budapest and continues to attract singers from across West and South Yorkshire.
The performance takes place from 7pm to 9pm, with doors opening at 6pm. Tickets are £30 for adults and £15 for children, available via the Wentworth Woodhouse website and on the door.
